Who, What & Why Weddings?
Hello and welcome to my first magic blog. Well, technically it isn’t my first but my first since the pandemic and that all seems like it was a bad dream and didn’t really happen so it doesn’t count and I’ll hear no different. I want to take the opportunity in this first blog to tell you who I am, a little about what I do, why I do it, and how I can help you by doing it. So, without further ado, let’s get stuck in…
Who?
My name is Justin Saul AKA Magical Saul, pleased to meet you! That’s the introduction out of the way, now let me tell you about what I do.
What?
The short answer is that I am a Magician & Event Host and that’s what my branding and logo say. However, there’s a lot more to what I do and more importantly, what I offer, that is worth exploring. I started off working as a professional magician nearly 10 years ago and quickly learnt that my favourite events to perform at are weddings. First of all, I’m an old romantic and I love love. There’s nothing quite like helping a newly married couple make their big day even more special.
On the face of it, the idea of having a magician at a wedding seems ludicrous. Why on earth would you want somebody walking around doing magic tricks for your friends and family on your wedding day? Spoiler Alert: Be careful when choosing a magician for your big day because that is all some of them do. It’s worth remembering that good entertainment ain’t cheap and cheap entertainment ain’t good. It’s also worth remembering that ain’t ain’t a word (I had to put that bit in in case my mum is reading).
I’ll let you in to a little secret though. Come closer, Psst, What I really do is break the ice between guests and act as a conversation starter. The real magic is in how I break down social barriers and help your guests feel at ease. Not only that but I am the ideal solution for boredom. Your wedding day is going to be an amazing one but it also a long day and it will have lull periods where not much is happening and your guests are likely to get bored. Those times are usually during the photographs, during the meal and during the turnaround (or lull as its also known).
Think about it, you’ve got friends, family and work colleagues that don’t know each other… and that’s just on your side, its the same for your partner. What better way to bring everyone together than a professional icebreaker.
That’s where I come in. I save your guests from boredom and rescue them from being cornered by the racist uncle. I do that by performing incredible modern magic & mind reading miracles that are fun, immersive, interactive and have the wow factor. It is guaranteed to fill those lulls with smiles, laughter and amazing memories of your special day that I can work with your photographer to capture and immortalise forever.
I can say that with absolute confidence because I have well over 100 five star reviews from previously happy clients. Here is one of many…
“Couldn’t recommend a more talented and wonderful magician! We were all blown away by his magic tricks, and it was definitely one of the highlights of our wedding for us and for all our guests too!”
— Josh M.
If that was all I did, it would be more than enough to help make your wedding day even more special but I realised that I could provide an even better service and I have done that by training as a wedding MC (or Emcee). As a Magical MC, I offer a modern twist on the classic Toastmaster by making sure that everybody is where they are meant to be, when they are meant to be. I coordinate with the venue and your other suppliers to make sure that everything is running smoothly and on time so you can just relax and enjoy your day.
One of my key roles is to make all of the important announcements and introduce the key stages of the day with energy and enthusiasm. Venues particularly love this as 9/10 of the staff hate the thought of public speaking and the job usually goes to whoever’s turn it happens to be on the day. Having a professional public speaker to make the announcements ensures that you get the service you deserve. Having worked as a wedding professional at venues all over the country for nearly a decade I have seen what works well and unfortunately, many examples of what doesn’t.
Think of me as your representative on the day. When you book my hosting package, it is my job to make sure everything runs smoothly and to take the stress off you so that you can be present and enjoy the wedding you have dreamed of.
Why?
The truth is, I’m an addict and I’m addicted to something that money can’t buy. I’m addicted to something I can only get by performing. Its the plaudits and adulations of my audience. There’s nothing quite like connecting with a person or a group and seeing their smiles, laughter and the feeling of childlike wonder you get when I share my magic with you.
Nothing compares to seeing those looks of amazement, hearing the exclamations of WTF?! and the buzz from blowing your minds. Above all else though, it is the feedback and appreciation that I get from my clients after the wedding and the knowledge that I have taken away their stress and helped make the day even more memorable.
““We had nothing but lovely feedback about you, not only as a Magician, but as a master of ceremonies too.”
- Rachel C.
